About Ben

I was 45 when I wrote my memoir.

I help people 45 and older write memoirs readers can’t put down. I ghostwrite them, co-write them, and coach people who want to write their own.

I came to this late. During Covid I wrote Zen and the Art of Coaching Basketball: Memoir of a Namibian Odyssey, about coaching professional basketball in Namibia. It hit #1 in Amazon’s Basketball category, ranking ahead of Kobe Bryant. That pandemic project turned into a career.

Since then I’ve co-written Through the Fire: A Memoir of Trauma and Loss, Basketball and Triumph with three-time NBA champion Scott Williams, which has a five-star rating on Amazon from more than 80 reviews. I’ve worked with more than 25 clients on their books.

Before books, I lived a few other lives. I grew up in Vermont and taught English in Namibia with the Peace Corps. I coached professional basketball there, winning three championships and two Coach of the Year awards. I spent two decades teaching and training teachers, including in the Mississippi Delta, and I’ve made award-winning documentaries.

When you work with me, you work with me. No team of writers and editors you never meet. One person who knows your story from the first interview to the finished book.
